This challenge is going to help you PERFECT creating your CAS cards. Whether you have been using this style 'forever' or are just dipping your toes into the CAS pool, we will help you create PERFECTLY CAS creations every single time.
The Rule of Thirds -
The rule of thirds is a "rule of thumb" or guideline which applies to the process of composing visual images such as designs, films, paintings, and photographs. Now we are going to use this concept to apply it to our card making.
The rule of thirds in the medias above talk more about the points that intersect when you divide your template into a grid, using those points for a focal image.
How do we apply it to card making? The definition of Clean and Simple that I have used for over 7 years is - One main focal point, lot's of white space, minimal layers, and minimal embellishments. Even with these rules, it is sometimes hard to contain yourself and strictly adhere to the guidelines.
Of course, even one person's idea of CAS is completely different to the next person. How do we create the perfect CAS card? By just using only one-third of our 'canvas' leaving the other two-thirds nice and clean.
Check out the grid below:
When I start my design, I would usually choose the bottom third as my preference. You can actually use any of the thirds you like - top, middle, bottom, left, center, right. The main rule is to keep WITHIN the third you choose to work in :)
I hope this challenge helps you with your Clean and Simple card making.
Kylie
